10 Best Hindi Films 2026-Box Office Report
I watch a lot of movies, but every now and then, I come across a group of films that reminds me why I enjoy going to the theater so much.
That happened to me again in 2026.
I watched all of the movies on this list, and honestly, I enjoyed every one of them. Some surprised me with their stories, some impressed me with their performances, and a few gave me exactly the kind of big-screen experience I was hoping for.
What surprised me most, though, was how many people seemed to know very little about some of these movies.
That’s what inspired me to create this list of the Best Hindi Films 2026.
I’m not saying that every movie here will become everyone’s favorite. We all have different tastes. Instead, these are movies that stood out to me for their stories, performances, direction, audience response, and theatrical performance.
Some were huge commercial successes. Others found their audience slowly through word of mouth. A few became much bigger than expected once they reached theaters.
If you enjoy discovering movies through honest movie reviews and recommendations, this list should give you a few new titles to explore.
And if you enjoy action films, you can also check out our guide to Greatest Action Movies to Watch in 2026 Ranked, while our Best Hindi Films 2026 list covers more Bollywood releases from the year.
1. Dhurandhar: The Revenge

Dhurandhar: The Revenge cinematic poster Dhurandhar: The Revenge is easily one of the biggest Hindi theatrical events of 2026. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film brings Ranveer Singh back into the intense spy-action world established by the first movie. The sequel expands the story into a much larger conflict involving intelligence operations, revenge, political tension and criminal networks. The scale is enormous, but what makes the film work is the combination of Ranveer Singh's screen presence and Dhar's ability to build large action sequences around a continuing story. The film also delivered an extraordinary box-office opening. Reports put its worldwide Day 1 gross at around ₹240 crore, including previews, making it one of the biggest opening days ever recorded for a Bollywood film. IMDb currently lists the worldwide gross at approximately $152.9 million. If you like large-scale spy thrillers, this is one of the year's essential Hindi releases.
For the latest rating and credits, you can check Dhurandhar: The Revenge on IMDb.
2. Border 2

Border 2 movie poster featuring the film’s lead characters. War films depend heavily on atmosphere, scale and emotional stakes, and Border 2 tries to deliver all three. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film takes audiences back into the world of military sacrifice during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Sunny Deol returns alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, giving the film a mixture of established star power and younger faces. The audience response was strong enough to make the movie one of the year's major theatrical performers. Trade reports put its worldwide collection at around ₹441 crore, with another source reporting a higher final figure of approximately ₹485 crore. Its opening day was also impressive, with around ₹30 crore worldwide reported. The IMDb rating is not as high as some other films on this list, but its theatrical performance and audience interest make it difficult to ignore when discussing the biggest Hindi films of 2026.
IMDb lists the film's director, principal cast, release date and estimated budget.
3. Dhamaal 4

Dhamaal 4 movie poster and cast If you want something lighter after all the serious action and drama, Dhamaal 4 is the movie to consider. Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth entry brings back Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh and Jaaved Jaaferi for another chaotic adventure. The story revolves around a hidden treasure and the ridiculous situations that unfold as multiple characters try to get their hands on it. It isn't trying to reinvent comedy. Instead, it understands what audiences expect from the Dhamaal franchise and gives them more of it. The film opened with around ₹21.5 crore worldwide on Day 1. Later trade estimates placed its worldwide total significantly higher, although exact figures vary between sources. IMDb currently shows a strong audience rating, making it one of the more accessible family entertainers of the year.
IMDb confirms Indra Kumar as director and lists the principal cast and production credits.
4. Bhooth Bangla

Bhooth Bangla movie scene Bhooth Bangla brings together Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan for another horror-comedy adventure. The film combines supernatural elements with comedy, giving audiences something very different from the year's action-heavy releases. Akshay Kumar leads the cast, with Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi and others adding to the ensemble. The film was made on an estimated budget of around ₹150 crore, while trade tracking has reported a worldwide gross of roughly ₹247 crore. That commercial performance is particularly important because the movie had to compete against several large Hindi releases. The story isn't as serious as some of the other movies on this list, but that is precisely why it works for viewers looking for an easy theatrical entertainer.
IMDb lists the film's estimated budget and worldwide gross, while trade sources provide the larger theatrical figures.
5. Welcome to the Jungle

Welcome to the Jungle Big ensemble comedies are difficult to pull off. There are usually too many characters, too many jokes and not enough room for everyone to make an impression. Welcome to the Jungle embraces that problem rather than trying to hide it. Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film features a huge cast led by Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and a long list of familiar Hindi-film faces. The result is a broad comedy built around adventure, chaos and character-driven situations. The film performed strongly in theaters. Trade reports put its worldwide gross in the region of ₹187–193 crore, while India net collections crossed the ₹130 crore mark. The reported production budget was around ₹125 crore, according to director Ahmed Khan and several industry reports.
IMDb provides the principal cast and release information, while trade reports give the broader box-office picture.
6. Main Vaapas Aaunga

Main Vaapas Aaunga Not every successful movie needs a massive opening. Main Vaapas Aaunga is a good example. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, this emotional period drama explores love, migration, memory and belonging against the backdrop of Partition. Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari and Vedang Raina lead the story, with Naseeruddin Shah adding considerable weight to the cast. What makes the film interesting is how different it feels from the large commercial spectacles elsewhere on this list. The movie initially opened modestly, but positive word of mouth helped it remain in theaters for weeks. One trade report puts its final worldwide collection at around ₹94 crore, while other trackers have placed the total closer to ₹98 crore. IMDb currently gives the movie a strong audience rating of around 8.2/10, with thousands of ratings.
IMDb describes the movie as a story of love, longing and belonging rooted in Partition-era migration.
7. Cocktail 2

Cocktail 2 movie scene Romantic dramas don't always need massive action sequences to attract audiences, and Cocktail 2 proves that there is still room for relationship-driven Hindi cinema. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna and is directed by Homi Adajania. The story focuses on modern relationships, emotional confusion and the complications that come when love doesn't follow a simple path. It works best when the three leads are allowed to carry the emotional side of the story rather than relying entirely on spectacle. Commercially, the movie turned into a solid theatrical success. Bollywood Hungama reports a worldwide gross of approximately ₹143.6 crore, while other trade reports have also described it as a profitable release.
IMDb confirms the June 19 release date and lists Luv Films and Maddock Films among the production companies.
8. Awarapan 2

Awarapan 2 movie poster Awarapan 2 was one of the biggest surprises of the year for me. Emraan Hashmi returned to one of the most recognizable emotional spaces of his career, and audiences responded strongly. The movie mixes romance, crime, action and emotional drama while attempting to continue the legacy of the original Awarapan. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film stars Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani and quickly established itself as one of the year's strongest theatrical performers. The opening was especially impressive. Trade reports put the worldwide Day 1 collection at around ₹27–28 crore. Later box-office tracking reported a worldwide total above ₹200 crore, against a reported budget of roughly ₹30 crore, making the film an extraordinary commercial success.
The strong opening also made Awarapan 2 Emraan Hashmi's biggest opener according to contemporary trade reporting.
9. Mirzapur: The Movie

Mirzapur: The Movie Fans of the Mirzapur universe had been waiting for this one for a long time. Mirzapur: The Movie takes the characters audiences already know and moves their story onto the big screen. Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Ravi Kishan, Rasika Dugal and other familiar faces return. The story continues the struggle for control of Mirzapur, with old rivalries, revenge and power driving the narrative. The movie opened strongly and became one of the fastest-performing Hindi films of the year. After seven days, trade reports had placed its worldwide gross at around ₹212 crore, while it continued climbing toward the ₹250 crore mark. IMDb currently lists the movie at around 7.9/10, which is a strong audience response for a franchise film.
IMDb confirms the September 4 theatrical release and lists the principal cast. For franchise details and the latest audience rating, Mirzapur: The Movie on IMDb is the best place to check.
10. O' Romeo

Mirzapur: O' Romeo The final entry on this list is O' Romeo, a very different kind of Hindi film. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie combines romance, crime and action while drawing inspiration from real-world Mumbai underworld stories. Shahid Kapoor leads the film opposite Triptii Dimri, with Nana Patekar, Avinash Tiwary, Tamannaah Bhatia and Disha Patani also appearing. What makes O' Romeo worth including is the filmmaking itself. Vishal Bhardwaj has a distinctive visual and narrative style, and the film aims for something darker and more character-driven than a conventional commercial romance. The theatrical performance was more modest than some of the other films here, so this is not a pick based purely on box-office numbers. Instead, it earns its place because of its director, cast, subject matter and audience interest.
The film was written and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, with Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri in the lead roles.
What Makes These the Best Hindi Films 2026?
There are plenty of Hindi movies released in 2026, but I didn't want to make this list simply by looking at opening-day numbers.
For me, a good Hindi film needs more than a famous actor.
It needs a reason to exist.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge delivers spectacle and scale. Border 2 brings patriotic war drama to a huge theatrical canvas. Dhamaal 4 focuses on pure comedy and entertainment. Bhooth Bangla mixes horror with humor, while Welcome to the Jungle goes all-in on ensemble comedy.
Then there are films like Main Vaapas Aaunga, Cocktail 2 and Awarapan 2, which rely more heavily on relationships and emotional storytelling.
Mirzapur: The Movie benefits from one of India's strongest modern crime franchises, while O' Romeo stands out because of its director and darker storytelling approach.
That's why I think this list gives a pretty good picture of what Hindi cinema looked like in 2026.
A Quick Look at the Box Office
If you're mainly interested in commercial performance, a few titles clearly stand above the rest.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge delivered the biggest opening-day event of the group, with reports putting its worldwide first-day gross around ₹240 crore.
Border 2 also became a major theatrical success, with trade reports placing its worldwide total around ₹441 crore or higher depending on the tracker.
Awarapan 2 was arguably the biggest surprise because of its comparatively modest budget and huge return.
Meanwhile, Main Vaapas Aaunga showed that a movie doesn't always need a massive opening to find an audience. Its slow-burn theatrical run eventually took it close to the ₹100 crore worldwide mark.

Why 2026 Has Been Such an Interesting Year for Hindi Cinema
What I like most about Hindi cinema in 2026 is the variety.
We have massive spy films, war epics, horror comedies, romantic dramas, family entertainers and franchise movies all competing for the same theatrical audience.
More importantly, audiences have shown that they are willing to support films that give them something worth talking about.
Some movies succeed because of scale. Some succeed because of nostalgia. Others grow because people recommend them to friends after watching them.
That makes the current Hindi film landscape much more interesting than simply looking at the biggest stars or biggest opening weekends.
If you want more movies in this style, our action movies with unexpected endings guide is another good place to explore.
My Picks From the Best Hindi Films 2026
After looking at the stories, performances, directors, audience response and theatrical results, I think these ten movies represent some of the most interesting Hindi releases of 2026.
I wouldn't say they are all perfect.
Some have stronger stories than others. Some are clearly more commercial. Some work because of their performances, while others are simply much more entertaining on a big screen.
But that's what makes putting together a list like this fun.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge gives you spectacle. Border 2 gives you scale and emotion. Dhamaal 4 gives you laughs. Awarapan 2 delivers a surprisingly powerful commercial comeback. Main Vaapas Aaunga proves that slow-burn storytelling can still find an audience.
And then you have Mirzapur: The Movie, Cocktail 2, Bhooth Bangla, Welcome to the Jungle, and O' Romeo, each offering something different.
I came away from 2026 feeling that Hindi cinema is in a much more interesting place when filmmakers take different kinds of risks.
So if you're looking for something to watch, don't just pick the movie with the biggest poster or the biggest star.
Pick the story that sounds like something you'll actually enjoy.
That's usually where the best movie nights begin.
